ABOUT ME

Hi, I'm Laura.

I am a natural light photographer
and graphic designer based
in New Hampshire.

My background

I studied darkroom photography at the University of Colorado Boulder, where I received degrees in Studio Arts Photography and English Literature. Studying alternative processes and digital art, I honed my skills in graphic design, which became my career after graduation. Today I work full time as a director of marketing and special projects in the camping industry.

My passions

I love being a mom! I have two little ones who help me see life in a beautiful, curious, wonderful way. Outside of family, I am an avid flyfisherwoman and hiker, although I have to live vicariously through my own photo archive to adventure these days. I love capturing the beautiful moments in everyday life to relive long after.

My Style

I specialize in capturing raw emotion that happens organically. During family sessions, I watch you and your loved ones interact with each other naturally and capture the love I see in those moments. Our sessions are relaxed, silly and fun!

FAQ

What are your sessions like?

My family sessions are relaxed, informal and fun. I am not into heavy posing (and let's be honest, neither are little kids!) and prefer to observe and capture families organically interacting with each other. I'll capture sweet moments, candid laughs and portraits of each family member.

My senior sessions involve more posing, moving around to catch the right light and different backdrops. We will explore our location and change up the vibe, and you are welcome to change your 'fit to mix it up. My senior sessions are active, fun and super creative.

Small business photography is another passion. I take headshots of each staff member and active shots of the owner(s) at work. I capture the wide angle atmosphere of the space and nerd out on product photography, food photography, or whatever wares or experience you're selling.

What locations do you shoot?

At this time, I serve the Hopkinton, Contoocook, Henniker, and Concord NH areas. I am also open to travel for the right opportunity (weekends only).

What is your style?

My style is emotive, authentic, natural light photography. I prefer to shoot in natural light (no flash or fancy studio equipment). I make the most of the beautiful setting around us and move around to grab the best light. I shoot every session like it's a wedding, looking for the emotion on faces and capturing joy. I don't do inauthentic, stiff posing, and instead look for organic moments and movements, capturing people authentically.

How many images will I get?

This is what makes me different from other photographers... I don't believe in holding photos hostage. If I shoot 800 frames and there are 100 amazing shots to edit, you'll get 100 final, edited images.

Do I have to buy prints from you?

No. After I send you your album, you can download your images and print wherever you like. I do offer third party printing on my website if that's easier for you.

When will I get my photos? What is the timeline?

After our session, I import, backup, and thoroughly edit the best images from the day. Editing takes time. Depending on the length or complexity of our shoot, you will have your images within 2-6 weeks.

I always provide a handful of "sneak peek" shots before delivering the final album. Usually the shots I'm most excited about!

If you have a specific deadline or need, please let me know when scheduling.

What other services do you offer?

I am also a graphic designer by trade. I have created beautiful wedding albums and photo books for clients, along with event invitations, save-the-dates, and custom holiday/event cards. Just ask!
