I had a friend from college visiting me this weekend and showed him around some of my favorite spots: Hood River to watch windsurfers and kiteboarders, Mississippi Avenue for amazing pizza, Voodoo Doughnuts to check on the line (it was horrendous, we refused to wait) and one of my favorite places in the city, the International Rose Test Garden in Washington Park. Hundreds of stunning roses, all different species, colors and smells. Luckily for me, my friend also has a passion for photography and didn't mind that I wandered off shooting for hours -- he did too! I wish I could bottle up those incredible scents. I burrowed my nose into almost every different bloom; couldn't get enough.
Here's a look at what you'll see at the gardens.
one of my favorite color combos, fire & ice.
Heading out we stopped to appreciate this lichen-covered stairway. Great choice.
One of my favorite finds? This moss-covered bathroom by the exit.
Definitely a must-see for anyone traveling to Portland.
